Transfer Center »Production Processes / Energy Efficiency«

The increasing demand for individual products or a quick reaction to market events require a very flexible production. The transfer center »Production Processes / Energy Efficiency« deals with the challenges of process planning, execution and optimization in the manufacturing industry.

The research team supports companies with its application-oriented expertise to implement goals such as faster time-to-market, lucrative production of small batches, digitalization of manufacturing and process optimization.

For example, the open-source middleware platform Eclipse BaSyx, which is being developed as part of the »Basic System Industry 4.0« (BaSys 4.0) project, can be used to network a factory end-to-end from the office to the store floor level. This creates new possibilities in live monitoring of production processes, implementation of service-based production or even analyses with precise data.

For flow dynamic shape optimization for production processes, the open source software cashocs is available, which has already proven its viability in a number of research and industrial projects.

Network for Open Source Activities for The Asset Administration Shell

Dr. Thomas Kuhn from Fraunhofer IESE, as deputy of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft for the project »BaSys«, has signed a »Memorandum of Understanding« (MoU for short) with the Industrial Digital Twin Association e.V. (IDTA) at Hannover Messe 2022. The two partners are thus entering into a contractually agreed cooperation for the standardization of asset administration shells for industry.
