»High Performance Computing«

The main problem of future computer infrastructures is the automation of data management and parallelization. In cooperation with computer science and mathematics, research is to be increased through closer networking with the TUK working groups and industrial implementation. The focus here is on GPI-Space, which was developed by Fraunhofer ITWM, and the co-design of hardware and software.

»Convergence of HPC & Machine Learning«

Machine learning has become a hype topic. Therefore, it is now important to consolidate the international position achieved by focusing on increasing performance, especially of deep learning methods, through the combination of innovative HPC methods and new algorithmic approaches.

For this purpose, the cooperation with Professors Wehn and Kloft, who holds the new Chair of Machine Learning, will be intensified. In the field of large scale visualization, the focus of the new collaboration will be on visualization topics within Big Data Frameworks.

»Digital Twins«

Digital twins combine real data and simulation models to create digital representations that show the same behavior as their real counterparts. They are currently prominent in the field of production technology - industry 4.0, but they will also play an important role in domains of the automotive and medical technology industries.

To this end, cooperation with the working group on the design of microelectronic systems of the TUK will be intensified and the working group on electromobility of the TUK and the DFKI will be involved.
