High Performance Center Simulation and Software Based Innovation

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft uses High-Performance Centers to pursue the goal of sustainable location development. The Fraunhofer concept is based on existing cooperation with relevant players from the world of science and regional networking with industry. All dimensions are included: Research and teaching, promotion of young talent, overarching infrastructures, innovation and transfer in SMEs and large companies.

Cooperation between companies, universities and research institutions in Kaiserslautern has been institutionalized in the Simulation and Software-based Innovation Performance Center since 2016 and has significantly expanded existing collaborations and transfer measures. The science city of Kaiserslautern offers a unique infrastructure in Germany in the field of applied IT research and, in particular, hardware, software and network-based digital technologies, which is demonstrated by a wide range of coordinated activities and the joint presence of regional companies and institutions under the umbrella of SIAK e.V. (Science and Innovation Alliance Kaiserslautern). The concept sees itself as an instrument for securing innovation and exploitation-oriented excellence in key topics for selected regions.

Our Research

Our work is divided into different modules. In our research and development labs (R&D-Labs), we pursue a methodical approach and develop new concepts and algorithms. We then make these basic technologies available to our transfer centers. The centers are actively involved in projects in collaboration with business partners from various sectors. Finally, we pool the expertise and technologies acquired from the transfer centers and R&D-Labs in our strategic transfer fields. There we address socially and economically relevant future topics together with our partners.
